Well, it’s been a busy few days but not terribly productive in the world of writing. We’ve been nursing a sick alpaca for over a week—originally thought it was one thing and now the vet says it’s another. We have our fingers crossed for her recovery.
It’s also that time of year to get ready for the holidays. We have kids flying across the country tomorrow, as long as we make it to the airport on time and they get through security. Traveling this time of year is about the last thing I want to do.
We’ve also been getting the house ready for guests on Saturday for our annual Leftover Lunch. Very relaxed compared to the actual Turkey Day, but there’s always work that goes into a large crowd coming over. I’m skipping the turkey this year and making stroganoff meatballs and loaded baked potato soup instead. And my husband is making a lemon cheesecake with lemon curd. (I’m going to take a second here to brag—my husband makes the BEST cheesecakes, and the lemon one is perfection.) So, that will be our Thursday and Friday.
And as far as writing goes, I started working on what I originally planned as my third book. As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, it’s not a death industry romance, just the third book I’m writing. I actually started it a couple of years ago and put it down, but I had the majority of the plot figured out. Well, it turns out I don’t care about the characters anymore. I revamped the plot, played with the characters a little, rewrote the first chapter. And hated every part of it. So I scrapped it, and now I’m working on something completely different. I’m feeling hopeful about this one.
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, however you celebrate the day. And if you’re ignoring the holiday, I hope you have a lovely Thursday.
Cheers!
E.S.
