November 9th, and we have our first real snow on the property. We had some weird sleety stuff the other day that was more of a rain. But this morning, we have snow accumulating on the ground.
Why is the picture weird? Well, I took it through the door of my office, so you can see images of the room reflected against the glass and the snow on the ground through the door. It’s a little confusing trying to pick out what’s in the room and what’s outside. But it’s a pretty accurate representation of my brain this morning as I’ve been playing with the same two paragraphs for the last hour or so.
This is the less fun part of writing. I’m down to fixing small details. The details that started as one thing at the beginning of the book three months ago and then got changed by the end of the book to make an off-hand comment in chapter twelve work better. Only that comment also changed five other things. And you can’t just change the information, you have to blend it in so it becomes seamless to the rest of the story.
I’m not going to lie, folks. It’s tedious and kind of a pain in the ass. Especially when your brain is blizzarding.
Be safe out there!
